Inspections and lightning protection all of Slovakia
Inspection of lightning protection on a family house, an apartment building or business premises: the whole system checked, the earthing measured at every down conductor, and a report within 3 working days of the measurement.
Scope

On the roof we go over the air terminals and the conductors, on the facade the down conductors and their supports. We look for corrosion, loose joints and broken runs, and for anything that has crept close to a conductor over the years.

At every down conductor we open the test joint and measure the earth resistance with a Metrel Eurotest, then the resistance of the joints. The values are compared with the last report: a rising resistance gives away a corroding electrode before it fails.

An aerial, a satellite dish, an air conditioner or solar panels added after the lightning protection often stand outside the protected zone or too close to a conductor. We assess them and propose how to bring them under protection.

The report holds the values measured at every down conductor, the defects from the most serious with how to put them right, and an overall assessment of the system. It arrives within 3 working days, as a signed PDF and on paper.

After a lightning strike, after the roof is repaired or replaced, and after insulation work that takes the down conductors off and puts them back, the system is checked before its interval is up. Only the report confirms it protects again.

Under § 2(5) of Act No. 182/1993 Coll., lightning protection is shared equipment of the building. The inspection on time is therefore ordered by the owners' association or the manager, not by the owner of one flat.

Common questions
By protection level: levels I and II at least every 2 years, III and IV every 4 years, and a building with an area at risk of explosion every year — active lightning protection included. If the environment under Table B sets a shorter interval, the shorter one applies (Annex 8 of Decree No. 508/2009 Coll.). All the intervals are on the inspection intervals page.
On an apartment building, at a business and on premises, yes, at the interval the decree sets. § 13(7) of Act No. 124/2006 Coll. exempts a family house and a flat in personal ownership. We recommend it there too: after a strike, the report shows the lightning protection was working.
It depends on the number of down conductors: for a family house the price is for the whole house, for an apartment building per down conductor. Indicative prices are in the tables above, and we give the exact price before the inspection.
The defects go into the report with proposed measures, and we say which are urgent. We propose the repair within the price of the inspection or in a separate quote, and after it the follow-up inspection is free. If the system is outdated, we recommend modernising it.
Yes. Before it is put into service an initial inspection verifies it, and when we fit it, its report comes with the handover. The periodic inspection then repeats at the interval of its protection level.
